Around 8:55 p.m. on April 12, 2017, a series of events broke out between the intersection of IN 32 and Gunther Blvd. to the subdivision of Sandpiper Lakes, according to the Public Information Officer, Captain Charles E. Hollowell who has received information by other officers on the scene.

“As of right now, we believe [the incident] was a robbery.” Hollowell said. “No one was injured, and the car [used in robbery] was crashed into the pond [of the Sandpiper Lakes neighborhood]. No one was injured in the crash,”

The police cordoned off the entrance to Westfield Marketplace closest to Sandpiper Lakes, and police have been scouring the shoulders of the highway in search of any type of evidence involved in the crime. Three police SUVs were parked in the Indiana Members Credit Union parking lot near the scene. Additional police SUVs, were parked in the Sandpiper Lakes subdivision, and both ambulances and firetrucks could be seen in the neighborhood. Several fire trucks had lights attached to the ends of extended ladders, illuminating the retention pond. Several concerned homeowners from Sandpiper lakes watched the scene from their porches. The investigation is still ongoing, and more information will be released soon by the Westfield police department.
