Elf (2003, PG)
In his holiday classic, starring Will Ferrell as Buddy the Elf, Buddy discovers that he’s actually a human. He embarks on a journey from the North Pole to New York City to find his father, who works at a publishing company. Adjusting to life in New York City is hard on Buddy, but with the help of his new family and friends, he overcomes the struggle. This family friendly film will bring fits of giggles and will make you appreciate your family and friends more this holiday season.
Christmas Vacation (1989, PG13)
This season, Clark Griswold, played by Chevy Chase, has full plans to make it the jolliest Christmas vacation yet. He goes overboard in trying to appease everyone from his family to his boss, by decorating the house with 25,000 “twinkling” lights, a huge tree that simply won’t fit in his living room, and helping his cousin Eddy buy gifts for his kids. You won’t want to press the pause button in the middle of this humorous film!
The Santa Clause (1994, PG)
Divorcee Scott Calvin, played by Tim Allen, finds out that his ex-wife and her new husband have tried telling Calvin’s son, Jamie, that Santa isn’t real. That Christmas Eve night, both Jamie and Scott are awakened by a clatter on the roof. After going outside to investigate, Santa slides off the roof and falls into a snowbank, and becomes unconscious. While Scott and Jamie are trying to figure out how such an event could occur, the Santa vanishes, and Scott Calvin ends up becoming the next Santa Clause. You won’t regret watching this movie with family or friends this Christmas!
Home Alone (1990, PG)
This movie takes you on an adventure of young Kevin McCallister, who is the black sheep of the large McCallister family. He sleeps on the third floor of his house, and since he’s the only one up there, he’s left behind on the big vacation his family takes to Paris. While he’s home alone, thieves try breaking in, but thanks to Kevin’s quick thinking, he manages to keep the criminals out. Great movie to watch “home alone”, or with family and friends!
Polar Express (2004, G)
One Christmas Eve, a boy who is doubtful of the existence of Santa Clause is surprised to hear a train whistle outside his bedroom window in the middle of the night. Curious, he jumps out of bed and into the snowbank to investigate the ruckus. He is greeted by the conductor, and after much debate, the boy is convinced to board the train to the North Pole. He makes a few friends along the way, who later help him rediscover the magic of Christmas. This is a favorite among many– let’s see if the Polar Express gets added to your favorites list!
