Janae Mobley may be new to the principal’s office, but she is no stranger to Noblesville High School. After spending six years at NHS as an assistant principal, and recently being named “Assistant Principal of the Year” for Indiana District 5 this June, Mobley was announced as the school’s new principal at the June school board meeting and is now starting the position with a vision and appreciation for the community she is now leading.
“[Former Principal] Craig McCaffrey gave me a lot of [resources] to start getting used to being in different roles,” Mobley said. “Some of it I had already been doing.”
Mobley states she has a clear vision when it comes to NHS, and she plans to follow through with it. She is focused on not just the physical growth of the building but the growth of the students at NHS.
“It is hard to collaborate with a building of almost 200 teachers, but we’re being intentional,” Mobley said. “We believe during the four years here, all students should be growing in themselves, growing in their learning, and growing in their community,” Mobley said. “I want people to enjoy walking into this building… feel welcome… and be appreciative of what we have at Noblesville High School.”
Mobley says that she wants to increase student involvement and engagement. She has been reaching out to upperclassmen at NHS to strengthen the school’s culture.
“It was really refreshing to see the school through students’ eyes. They want the upperclassmen to be engaged,” Mobley said.
What lies ahead with this change in leadership? The spark behind Mobley’s love of NHS is what she says is the key to the school.
“It was really fun at freshman orientation, seeing kids in the hallway again,” Mobley said. “We do what we do because we love our kids.”
