Even though elections aren’t until 2016 it is never a bad time to gather information about the presidential candidates. Two top ranked candidates from each party is given a profile on their beliefs and former occupations.

Republicans

Donald Trump
Former occupation: President of The Trump Organization
Beliefs
Health Care- Trump doesn’t support Obamacare and wants to repeal and replace it with a plan he has not yet revealed.
Gun Control- He wants to limit the restrictions on guns along with banning some assault weapons
and extending the wait period for purchases.
Immigration- Trump believes in no path to citizenship for undocumented workers. He also wants to allow more European
immigration and legal status to those
graduating from U.S colleges.

Ben Carson
Former occupation: Neurosurgeon
Beliefs
Health Care- Replace the Affordable Care Act with health savings accounts.
Gun Control- Carson wants few limits on gun ownership except for the mentally ill or those convicted of violent crime.
Immigration- Allow undocumented residents access to a national guest worker program if they leave the country first.

Democrats

Hillary Clinton
Former occupation: Secretary of State
Beliefs
Health Care- Clinton is a strong supporter of Obamacare. She plans to keep it and strengthen it.
Gun Control- Clinton wants to use a similar
gun control system as Australia’s. This means
she is looking to imply stricter gun control laws.
Immigration- She says the President should waive
deportation for some immigrants and
give undocumented residents a
path to a legal status.

Bernie Sanders
Former occupation: Senator from Vermont
Beliefs
Health Care- Sanders wants to switch to single-player government-provided health care.
Gun Control- A mixed approach including no federal handgun waiting period. Have
protection for gun manufacturers and ban assault weapons.
Immigration- Offer path to citizenship and waive some deportations now.
