Winter break activities

Caitlin Kinkead, Staff Writer

Winter break is just around the corner, which means two whole weeks free from school. At loss as to what you can do in your free time?  Don’t just stare at a blank wall. Here are multiple ideas to kick off you 2015 winter break.

Ice Skating

If you are looking to get out of the house this winter break head over to Hamilton Town Center where a new ice rink has opened. The rink will be available from 11/14/15 – 1/31/16.

Holiday Shopping

We all have the desire to burn a hole in our pocket at some point so why not shop over winter break, when tons of deals will be hitting the stores. It’s the perfect time of the year to do so since most places waive  their parking fees during holidays. Head down to the Square to support local businesses and get your holiday shopping covered.

Coffee Date

When the temperature is cold and there is a blanket of sparkling snow on the ground, we all long for that little bit of warmth. Treat yourself to a sip of coffee with a group of your friends at Noble Coffee and Tea or a nearby Starbucks. Noble Coffee and Tea serves their Toasted Marshmallow Mocha along with their Peppermint Chocolate Chai. Starbucks has their popular holiday drinks such as the Peppermint Mocha, Chestnut Praline Latte, and their Holiday Blend. This a cheap and fun way to get nice and toasty with your buddies over winter break.

Holiday Movie Marathon

Just feel like lounging around at home or don’t have any money to spend at the movies? Why not snuggle up on the couch with a warm blanket and a nice cup of hot chocolate and watch a holiday movie marathon. Invite friends over or even enjoy with your family. Check out holiday classics like The Grinch or Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer. ABC also features their “25 Days of Christmas” from December 1st through the 25th.

The Movies

Tons of new movies will hit the theater in December, so get out of the house for a bit and enjoy some popcorn and a movie. Here are some of the movies heading to the theater in the month of December:

Krampus (December 4)

In the Heart of the Sea (December 11)

Star Wars The Force Awakens (December 18)

The Hateful Eight (December 25)

The Revenant (December 25)
