After watching this movie, my only thought was, “What just happened?”

It’s hard to summarize Clinical because three or four stories unfold throughout the movie that then connect to the main plot in the end. But I will try my best: Dr. Jane Mathis is a psychiatrist who deals mostly with trauma patients. After her 13-year-old patient, Nora, attacks her with a broken piece of glass and then proceeds to cut her own neck, Dr. Mathis develops PTSD herself. She quits her job and starts seeing her own psychiatrist. One day, she receives a phone call from a man named Alex who asks her to treat him for his PTSD that he developed after a life-changing car accident. Reluctantly, she agrees, but after all she had accomplished in her own therapy sessions, she begins to struggle with her illness again.

As interesting and intense as this movie sounded at the beginning, I quickly became confused and annoyed. Suddenly, there were four stories that I was trying to keep track of. Dr. Mathis, her psychiatrist Dr. Saul, Alex and Nora’s stories all begin to blend together. As the movie progresses, more information is revealed about all four parts, making it hard to wrap my mind around it all. I understand all of the plot twists and what the writer’s intentions were, but the whole movie was poorly executed and most of it didn’t make any sense.

I really thought I would enjoy this movie, but it was very unclear and very confusing. I spent an hour and a half trying to figure out if Nora was dead or alive. Quite frankly, I am still confused on how this movie ends. I’d say, if you’re up for the challenge, watch this movie. Just know that you’ve been warned.
