Alone on Valentine’s Day? Maybe Ben & Jerry should be the real men of your life

On a commercialized holiday like Valentine’s Day, sometimes the best decision is to dissociate with a cold pint of ice cream. Instead of being ambushed by cute couple posts and corny jokes about being single, enjoy a whole container of ice cream to yourself or with your best friend. Relish in the fact that you didn’t contribute to another holiday created for Hallmark’s profit.

  • Milk and cookies

In the first place, a Ben and Jerry’s classic. Filled with two kinds of cookie bites and chocolatey goodness, it has everything you could possibly ask for. What I’m hinting at is that you won’t have to get up from your third binge watch of  “Stranger Things” for extra chocolate.

  • Mint (to be alone) chip

Mint chocolate chip ice cream has that cool flavor that gets the taste of bitter singleness right out. Rich chocolate bits cut through the icy mint to remind you that eating a whole container of ice cream will definitely give you cavities. Even if it tastes minty fresh.

  • Chocolate chunk

A chocoholic’s dream, and yet greatest demise. The chocolate ice cream, chocolate chunks, and chocolate syrup almost make it seem like you actually got chocolates for Valentine’s day. Almost.

  • Red velvet (goes well with Loner by Kali Uchis)

Just hearing the words “red velvet” is comforting, then that velvety cocoa flavor blankets you and tucks away any and all Valentine’s Day worries. It’s especially soothing when eaten while listening to your saddest love playlist.

  • Neapolitan

Neapolitan ice cream is for those of us who can’t decide on one ice cream flavor, let alone two. The simple, yet delicious, trio of chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla has a little something for everyone. (As if you’re going to be sharing your ice cream with anyone on Valentine’s day.)

  • Watermelon(choly) sorbet

My heart goes out to those who can’t -or choose not to- have dairy, truly. Sorbets are just a limited selection of watered down, mediocre, icy fruit juice. Another painful reminder of what the dating world is like.

  • Green tea

Alone time is great for reflection and self care. A couple scoops of green tea ice cream are sure to bring you to your zen and help you peacefully accept your state of being solo.

  • Ridin’ solo rolo

Rolos are the little caramel and chocolate candies that will make you question why you ever tried cutting sugar out of your diet. Put them in ice cream and you’ll wonder why you ever tailored your diet to impress anyone else. Then, go ahead and polish off the whole thing…

  • Peanut butter chocolate

Chocolate and peanut butter work together beautifully to create something truly inspiring. It’s a duo all couples and singles can come together to appreciate and look up to.

  • Supremely single strawberry

For those who want to get their ice cream fix in but are watching their calories, there’s strawberry ice cream. We can pretend the fruit in it and its “natural sugars” are good for you, but in the end three servings of ice cream in one sitting will never be healthy.
