Floating through the parade: A quick look at this year’s homecoming floats

Once a year, every year, students and teachers alike are let out of school early to gather around trailers with posters, streamers, and large bags of candy that will invariably run out too soon. After rushing to hang decorations, the students cram into the trailer bed, awaiting the line up to begin the parade route. Loud music blares in every direction, from car speakers, the marching band, and people singing songs. Soon, engines will start revving and the 2023 homecoming parade will begin.

Here’s a close up look at some of the floats this year, as well as insight from students from the clubs they represent. Featuring sophomore Mina Vendt from orchestra, junior Alex Hohmann from the combined German and French clubs, and junior Yati Patel from Riley Dance Marathon.
