After an undefeated season, the Miller girls soccer team ended strong on Saturday, winning the IHSAA state championship against Center Grove. With a score of 3-1, the girls brought home yet another trophy and title of three-times state champions.
Within the first five minutes of the game, senior Kaydence Fleck scored the first goal of the game. Shortly after, Center Grove landed a shot in our goal. The Millers regained their composure and after several attacks, NHS senior Atley Pittman scored the second goal for the team.
As halftime was quickly approaching, the Millers acted fast. With an assist lead by senior Meredith Tippner, sophomore Delaney Stone scored the last goal of the game. Due to the persistence of the defense line and goalkeeper, Bella Wyatt, the game stayed at a score of 3-0 for the remainder of the match.
“It feels amazing [to be a state champ]. I couldn’t be more proud of this team and what they’re about,” said Wyatt. “It was honor to leave this legacy behind.”
Now that the season has come to a close, the girls mustsay goodbye to their team. However, reflecting on the season, Tippner says she wouldn’t change a thing.
“This program and these people are the best you can have and I wouldn’t want to be by anybody else,” said Tippner.
