All around Noblesville, people are coming together to make a lasting impact for their community. Murals are being painted, houses are being built, and community members are being served. Volunteers of all stripes are coming together to create change under one organization: SERVE Noblesville.
SERVE Noblesville is a nonprofit organization behind many local projects spanning back to 2008. The organization’s mission is to create connections and strengthen the community. Executive director Patrick Propst has been a part of SERVE Noblesville since the beginning of the organization.
“The role is for me to oversee the organization and help guide its mission and vision,” Propst said. “It allows me to spend a lot of time with people and build relationships.”
SERVE Noblesville has been involved in about 265 community projects since its formation. One of these ongoing projects is Serve Week.
“It’s our week of service in the summer. It’s the largest single service volunteer event in Hamilton County, mobilizing roughly 1000 volunteers over four days on hundreds of projects,” Propst said.
Along with Serve Week, SERVE Noblesville organizes several projects partnering with neighbors and residents, the city and the parks department, and other nonprofits. Now chair of the council, Vaibhav Patel has been involved with SERVE Noblesville for the last year.
“Last year I had the wonderful opportunity to collaborate with SERVE Noblesville to help run the collaboration between my Noblesville Culture Fair and SERVE’s Fun Fest,” Patel said. “I started the Culture Fair to help celebrate all backgrounds and cultures present in Noblesville, and SERVE Noblesville truly helped me orchestrate this goal through our collaboration.”
Patel says that SERVE Noblesville is one of the most meaningful and inspiring organizations in the city. He explains that it has empowered him to help foster a diverse and supportive community.
“This organization is one that enriches the community by creating opportunities for all individuals, no matter the age, to get involved in diversifying Noblesville,” Patel said. “As an immigrant who moved to the U.S. almost ten years ago, I have located diversity as one of my passions, and this organization serves as one of the outlets to do exactly that.”
Senior Mallory Stewart is another member of the Mayor’s Youth Council Committee and also works with Serve Noblesville.
“I like seeing myself make a difference and I definitely love seeing the immediate impact it has on others. Being able to stand up and voice my concerns and thoughts is one of the best feelings to have,” Stewart said.
Wanting to get involved in making a change in the community? SERVE Noblesville recently launched a website called Impact Noblesville, where nonprofits throughout the city can list volunteer opportunities.
“We always welcome students to come out and volunteer,” Propst said.
