For senior CC Quigley, game days aren’t just about tip-off . They’re an intricate rhythm, routine, and ritual that she has spent the last four years refining. From early-morning alarms to late-night homework, Quigley’s schedule is packed. And as a forward for the Miller girls varsity basketball team, each second of her day counts.
The alarm clock blares, and Quigley begins her day bright and early at 7:00 AM. As breakfast is a non-negotiable part of her morning routine, she fills up on a variety of hash browns, eggs, granola bars, or yogurt before heading off to school.
Arriving at school, Quigley powers through her challenging classes like Government and AP Calculus.
“I try to get my homework done on time or in class if I can, and then I just stay on top of my work,” Quigley said.
After school, Quigley drives home, eats lunch, and prepares herself for her busy night ahead. She changes into her uniform and heads out for her sacred pre-game dinner tradition: “I always get Subway before every game,” Quigley said.
Her go-to order is a six-inch sandwich on Italian bread with turkey, provolone cheese, lettuce, pickles, and mayo — her perfect meal before heading back onto the court.
Around 4:30 PM, Quigley and her teammates ease into their nightly groove. Quigley stretches, practices drills, and reviews plays with her team, soaking up about an hour of solid preparation.
Once varsity warm-ups have wrapped up, the team heads to the bleachers to watch their junior varsity teammates.
“We’ll watch JV play, which is a lot of fun,” Quigley said. “We’ll watch their first half, and then we’ll shoot during their halftime.”
As the clock strikes 7:00, the scoreboard lights up, Quigley’s adrenaline peaks as the varsity team hits the floor. With during a home game or a long bus ride to an unfamiliar gym, Quigley says she loves the sport’s competitive rhythm.
At home after the final buzzer and all her school assignments have been completed, Quigley crashes into bed around 11:00, finally resting before another busy day of more school, more basketball, and more excitement.
