Say goodbye to tears on guitars, clichè analogies, and standardized pop melodies. Taylor Swift’s newest album, “1989”, is a brand new sound for the artist. Swift has stepped away from her standard pop and country mix, and dove into some serious pop, with heavy bass and lyrics with actual substance. Instead of crying over lost loves, Swift focused more on self-discovery and the road to recovery after a break-up. Trepidation surrounded the announcement of Swift’s “new sound”, but October 27th, fans bought the album in droves. Swift broke all previously held records, selling over 1.287 million copies in the first week. By maturing into a more adult singer, Swift has upped her game and released one of the best selling albums of the year.
