School is starting to fly by and so are the sports seasons. Track is a spring sport, but has already started preparing for the start of the season in December.

“Preluding the spring season, we always will have winter conditioning piled on top of the indoor season which is always exciting,” said Tyrrell Smith, a junior sprinter.

The whole team must be prepared to be the best athletes possible.

“The competition is strong so it’s important that we are ready and locked in,” Smith said.

The Miller track athletes are working hard to make the upcoming season great. Abdallah Al Samaraee, another junior sprinter, is excited to get back into it.

“I’m so excited for the upcoming season because I’ll get to see all of my friends,” Al Samaraee said.

Smith explains how the track team is very close so practice and competition is a very enjoyable experience.

“Our team is pretty tight knit and its always a blast practicing and competing with them,” Smith said.

With the start of a season there are many different emotions going on. There is the joy of something you love coming back around, but also the fear of how you’ll perform. All sports bring pressure, and every athlete wants to succeed. Smith explains what he is nervous about when the season begins.

“Lining up against the competition or getting ready to jump is always nerve-racking, but as soon as the gun goes off, the adrenaline takes over and it all washes away,” Smith said.
