It’s that time of the year again. The sound of chatter is filling the air. The clink from the platters is all you can hear, and the smell of pumpkin pie lingers beckoning diners to grab another slice.
This is what Thanksgiving looks like for many folks in Noblesville. But even though some aspects of the holiday might be similar in many homes, traditions vary from family to family. NHS Senior Anthony Benetti loves his family’s Thanksgiving traditions. Not only does Benetti’s family have their own set of traditions, but Benetti has his own different views on what his favorite Thanksgiving looks like.
“My family is kind of scattered around, so being able to get together and spend the holiday with everyone is always an amazing time,” Benetti said.“We meet up at my uncle’s house in Chicago. Some of us even end up staying for the weekend,” Benetti said.
And as it turns out, a sleepover is not the only tradition in the Benetti family, but another one that consists of watching a Thanksgiving favorite.
“After we eat, most of us will go into the living room and slump down with the football game on,” Benetti said.
Senior Kamee Brownson’s family does more on Thanksgiving than just eating lots of food. She says the day is also special because of the people she is surrounded by, the family she cannot wait to see.
“I love seeing all of my family, especially my little cousins. They are so cute, so sweet and just so fun to be around,” Brownson said.
For Brownson, Thanksgiving is a time for family to meet up and catch up. And just like Benetti, Brownson’s family is also all over the country so being able to see those she loves will forever have a special place in her heart.
“My whole family just fills the room with so much laughter and joy, and I will forever be grateful for that,” Brownson said.
