Athletic ace

Behind every business, sports team or workplace lies an unsung hero, an important incognito. Someone who doesn’t get recognized by a title. The Noblesville High School Athletic Office has one of these people.

Andrew Trisler is an assistant in the athletic office who has been a key player in the athletic program for three years.

Rewind to the year 2003, when Trisler became a freshman at NHS. Getting involved early, he became manager for freshman boys soccer Coach Brandon Swart.

“Athletic events were a huge part of my high school experience. They were my favorite things to go to,” Trisler said. He never played any organized sports but said,

“I was the first one to support all of the Miller sports teams, I always loved going to all of the events.”

After graduation from NHS, Trisler attended the University of Southern Indiana for two years before he traveled back up north to Ball State University to study Sport Administration. After graduating from BSU, Trisler returned to his high school alma-mater.

“I come in everyday with the same goal in mind,” Trisler said.

“I want to give students a better athletic experience than myself and my friends had.”

An average day for Trisler consists of waking up “at the crack of dawn” and making his way to the office by 7:30, usually with a cola beverage. During the day, he helps with scheduling and the new online calendar he is creating for NHS teams’ scores, rosters, schedules and more.

Trisler believes the new calendar will help improve the fan experience.

“I think the i-cal (calendar)will help a lot with our fans because they can pull it up whenever instead of the old (paper) tri-fold calendar,” Trisler said.

After his lunch hour, (his typical go-to spot is Qdoba, although he claims Jersey Mike’s is making a run his specialty, beside eating a hearty lunch, is editing the video screens or as he calls them “game boards,” located in the Mill. He adds names, faces and other graphics for both the home and visiting teams.

“He raised the bar on what we were doing with the digital boards and made it awesome. Andrew created such a great experience when we hosted basketball sectionals two years ago by involving the video boards,” Athletic Director Mike Hasch said.

The athletic office believes the dedication that Andrew bring everyday is uncanny. Although he gets paid for working athletic events, most of his hard work goes unnoticed. Visitors who walk into the athletic office will probably see Andrew and he greet you with a warm smile.

“I want every athlete to feel comfortable and special,” Trisler said.

The folks in the athletic office believe any school could use a guy like Andrew Trisler. Hasch especially had nothing but high praise for his assistant.

“He’s invested into the branding and success of the Millers,” Hasch said.
